curated by Lorenzo Canova
On Saturday 12 April at 6 p.m. at the Nuova Era Museum, the beating heart of contemporary art in Bari, the exhibition Un giorno di guerra (A day at war) by the Gentili-Palmisano Collective, curated by Lorenzo Canova, will be inaugurated.
The Gentili-Palmisano Collective (www.collettivogentilipalmisano.com) continues its research dedicated to the experience of poetry by creating material and immaterial sheets from which words emerge to compose the poetic text in a progressive and non-linear way - as happens in the consciousness of the poet and then in that of the reader - to reveal architectures, unions, conflicts, absence of form and movement towards form. The dynamic text is therefore a black box of the occurrence of poetry, the crossing of a space that the poetic page has frozen within itself and that the act of reading frees each time.
The poems in Sonia Gentili's latest book (Un giorno di guerra, Aragno editore 2024) become a visual installation (three prints on acetate; six Sheets and a Book with dynamic text and voices of Sonia Gentili and Silvia Gussoni), a dialectic between the whole and the fragment, between the image and its negative, to tell us that the time of reality is a day of war: the war that the living beings fight from birth to stay alive, the historical wars of yesterday and today, the war of love and loss.
The perennial and cyclical dialogue between Demeter and Persephone, the silence of biological growth and the return of the seasons, in which our life is rooted, is besieged by the noise of conflict, by the dissipation of the text into fragments and of meaning in its unravelling, by the ‘end engraved in history like a wound / in its beginning’.
Readings/performances of texts by Sonia Gentili with the special participation of Silvia Gussoni and Antonio Bux. Closing poetic reading by Paolo Castronuovo, Giammarco Di Biase, Claudia Di Palma, Marco Esposito, Mariagrazia Galasso, Giovanni Laera, Serena Mansueto, Mara Venuto.
